The PhD student section sends out a newsletter every month about what happens on the section and TLTH. If you are a member you get the newsletter automatically, but you can also sign up by sending an e-mail to dokt-newsletter (at) tlth.se .

We are sorry to announce that PLUME 2013 has been cancelled. The reason is that we have not been able to find enough mentors. Hopefully we can run PLUME next year instead, but for this we need your help! We need a few new PhD students who want to organize PLUME 2014. The workload is not great and the organizers from previous years can tell you how to do it. Moreover, you will be guaranteed to get a mentor yourself! If you are interested in this, or have any questions please contact us at dokt-plume (at) tlth.se.

Also note that the Life Science mentorship program, MentLife, will be held this year. We will start to take applications at the end of May.

Our much appeciated mentor program PLUME is now back for the fourth year! You find the application for PhD students here, and the application for mentors here. Have a look at the PLUME web page, to find out what the program comprises and why it is such a good idea to apply.

We are also co-organizing LifeSciMentNet, a new mentorship program for PhD students within the Life Sciences. The program will start later in the spring and it will be similar to PLUME but it will also be focused on getting to know and networking with Life Science companies. A couple of weeks ago we had the first board meeting of 2013. We have a diverse board of people from different departments from all over LTH and from all stages in their PhD studies. We were very glad to welcome two “new” members to the board: Maj and Vahid, who bring energy, ideas and experience to the board.

We talked about ideas for the upcoming year and discussed what our mission is and why we have chosen to join the board. We soon came up with a motto: Fun is other people. I think that is a good summary of what we will try to do: Bring PhD students from all over LTH together to do fun things together. And this does not only mean social events; the mentorship program PLUME is a way to connect with interesting people who have a PhD in their baggage and want to share their experiences and connections with us, and the education council brings together enthusiastic PhD students who fight for better PhD education. Just because these activities have a larger purpose it doesn’t mean that they’re not fun.

If you have any ideas for what the section could do during 2013, or if you would like to know more about what we are planning, please feel free to contact anyone in the board (see contact page). Hope to hear from you!

Registration, PhD-studies, Spring semester 2013

If you intend to actively pursue your PhD-studies at Lund University during the present semester/six months, you are now able to register in the Student Portal.
This registration is, among other things, a prerequisite for PhD-students to receive various discounts at travel companies.

1. To access the service, go to http://www.student.lu.se
2. To enter, either use your LUCAT-ID and password for employees, or use your student account (StiL-account).
3. Choose “Study Administration” in the bar at the top, followed by “Postgraduate Students” in the left-hand column, followed by ”Registration, PhD-studies” in the second column. Follow the instructions on the page.

In the Student Portal, you are also able to print a transcript of records for your PhD-studies, and there is also a service called “My results and activities, PhD-studies”, which shows information related to your PhD-studies at Lund University.

If you do not have a LUCAT-ID, please contact your department to receive such an ID.
If you for some reason are not entitled to such an ID, please contact the StiL-support at stil@er.lu.se
If you for some other reason still are not able to register, please contact your department.
The last date for the registration to be entered is on Thursday, February 14th, 2013.
